Teaching Position In Special Education

Special Education teachers are responsible for educating children with a variety of physical, mental, and emotional challenges in grades preschool through twelfth grade. They work using an IEP, or Individualized Educational Plan, which is legally required federal paperwork that describes the essential supports, adjustments, and goals for a specific child. These objectives can include both academic and behavioral issues. These instructors also lead discussions with parents and employees about the plan and make revisions as needed throughout the year. They work with students with a range of challenges in the classroom, employing specialized strategies to assist them to achieve their objectives.

Who You are

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education with teacher education courses is required. It is preferred that you have a master's degree.

  • Grades Pre-K through 12th Class: At least three (3) years of Special Education teaching experience

​

  • Additional Requirements: In the United States, a teaching certificate is required (requires the certification test in the academic area)

​

  • Evidence of Effective Classroom Management

  • Collaborate with other members of the staff to assist the student in improving.

​

  • Experience teaching Exceptional Children (Gifted and/or Special Needs) as a co-teacher in normal classes with general education teachers

​

  • Fluent English Speaker

​

  • Salary is determined by the amount of education and years of experience.
